If you need a perfect holiday film to show your relatives that want something season: The Leech is the perfect anti-Hallmark movie. A priest opens his house to a homeless man during the holiday season only to discover that this is a really bad idea. Nightmare At Noon brings us the tag team action of Wings Hauser (Tough Guys Don’t Dance) and Bo Hopkins (Midnight Express). They stumble into a town that’s being used as a science project. Who is behind it? Is it George Kennedy (Cool Hand Luke) of Brion James (Blade Runner). The month wraps up with a 4K UHD release of the legendary science epic Silent Running. Bruce Dern is an astronaut on a spaceship that contains a forest.
Director Eric Pennycoff delivers dark comedy with a twist in The Leech. This holiday tale about a priest that faces the ultimate test of faith after welcoming a struggling couple into his home at Christmas time debuted at the 2022 Chattanooga Film Festival to rave reviews. Writing for the Daily Dead, Michelle Swope awarded the film 4 out of 5 stars, calling it “the obscenely fun, naughty Christmas horror comedy you didn’t know you needed.” The Blu-ray being released on December 6 is the perfect stocking stuffer, containing two audio commentary tracks, a making-of feature, short films, and more bonus content.
