At CFF, we’ve long been big fans of the singular voice of author/animator/filmmaker Carson Mell.
For lack of a better way to describe it, Mell’s writing is often like Nicolas Cage’s meandering and poetic narration in the Coen brothers’ classic Raising Arizona. It carries a sort of redneck profundity.
We love Carson’s Bobby Bird shorts and animated Tarantula series so much we share them with anyone who will watch. The news that Carson had completed Another Evil, his first feature, and that the film was nothing less than a haunted house and exorcism-filled comedy was cause for serious celebration around these parts.
In addition to crafting four short films and a novel about the aging, drug-addled rocker Bobby Bird, Mell’s multifaceted resume includes writing for award-winning comedies Silicon Valley and Eastbound & Down.
In a perfect world, Mel is the kind of guy to whom Netflix should give a blank check.
